Can Animals Get Sunburns?

So your on a beautiful beach chilling on a chair and then you notice that you forgot your sunscreen in your car. you look around and see there's a dog chasing its owner but does it have sunscreen? They'll probably look like crabs by the end of the day. The answer is yest they can get sunburn if they don't have a particular sunscreen on. However seagulls don't need sunscreen because their feathers protect them from any burns and such.

 what about turtles? turtles were already born with a layer that blocks them from getting sunburns because of their shell and scales. Animals with pale skin or little fur are at hazard for sunburns. For example pigs, rhinos, and elephants - well how do they protect themselves from the sun? well pigs lay on a muddy puddle a roll around for protection, Rhinos do the same thing. with elephants they throw sand by using their trunks on themselves.

Giraffes eat about 12 hours a day so when you see their blackish purple tongues the dark colour is just protection from getting sunburns. If you have a pet that has thick fur, feathers or scales it is more unlikely they will get sunburns. But with pets that have white short or no fur they have a higher chance of getting sunburns, but don't worry there is sunscreen for pets in pet stores so you when you go to the beach or take a walk with your pet they don't get sunburns. 

But if you can't afford the sunscreen you can just but a t shirt on them, it won't protect all of the animal because the shirt can't cover all of them.

so the answer is YES, they CAN get sunburns.
