Te ua

There were movements around NZ about the new zealand wars they were peaceful at first then became more voilent. Te ua became a profit in 1862 and made a new religion called “pai marie - good and peaceful” he got sent to the chatham islands because people thought that he was a spy while he was away europeans took his land te ua became very sick and saw an angel

Te kote

The British killed two young unarmed boys. Te kote was also sent to the chatham islands. He got sick there and heard god's voice, they found a ship with supplies in it and they sailed back to NZ. After he was back he wanted revenge so he attacked the village that sent him to the chatham islands with his followers they killed about 60 people the village wanted to kill all of the village and the pai ma followers they killed about 120 people in te kote’s village, he didnt die he escaped.

Te toku ware 

He was the new leader but he didnt wanna fight in the war, But he really was a military genius.

The land 

Te toke said that he ate human flesh as a lie to scare the people, The british set bounties on pai marie followers because they didnt like them. In 1863 the land was legally confiscated from the maori, sacred hills were quaried, 800 year old burial sites were demolished. It wasnt about the land it was about the cultural spirits.

About 3,000 people died from the wars.

Tena kotou Katoa, Welcome back to my blog. Today's blog is going to be about Matariki. Do you know what's matariki? If you don't, then let me explain it to you. In the Maori language, Matariki is a star cluster. Matariki shows up in May and June. This is a mark of the beginning of the year.  Wanna know more facts about Matariki? Here are more facts about it: What is Matariki:                   Matariki is a time to set a goal, make a wish and remember those who you love. It’s like a day when you take a break and hang out with our families and friends.  Facts about Matariki: There are seven stars in Matariki: Pohutukawa Tupurangi Tupuanuka Waiti, Waita Waipunarangi Ururangi Hiwa-i-te rangi But they found two more. The matariki celebrations last into at least 3 days.  Matariki is a Maori new year celebration. Mata ariki means Eyes of god, and Mata riki means Little eyes. There are different names of Matariki in other countries.  There are many stars in Matariki, but there are only 7 visible stars : Alcyone – Matariki, eyes of Tāwhirimātea Atlas – Tupu-ā-rangi, sky tohunga Electra – Waipuna-ā-rangi, sky spring Taygeta – Waitī, sweet water Pleione – Tupu-ā-nuku, Earth tohunga Merope – Ururangi, entry to the heavens Maia – Waitā, sprinkle of water The midnight at 1:00 - 3:00 is the best time to see the matariki stars on June 16 - June 30.  Here is a link of a story of Matariki: Matariki and the six sisters Have you ever saw a matariki in midnight?? • Matariki is a star cluster not a consolation.
• Matariki is one of the nearest Star Clusters near earth
• The names are: Urangi, Tupu a nuku, tupu a rangi, waipunarangi, waiti, and waita.
• You can see matariki during early june at 1:00 or 2:00 am.
• Matariki has loads of other names around the world.
• In the old times when they saw the matariki stars that means its the time to harvest or plant.
